Ethyl M. McNeil
Ethyl Mae McNeil, age 92, of Clinton, passed away at her home, surrounded by her
family and a close friend and caregiver, Lynn Myers on Thursday, August 17, 2017.
Ethyl was born on April 16, 1925 to Samuel Stewart and Maggie ‘Robinson’ Stewart of
Brownington, MO. After school she went to work in both waitressing and sales for many
different businesses. She was a charter member of the VFW Post #1894, as well as the
Clinton Fraternal Order of Eagles. Ethyl also participated in the Lady Bug Club, the Red
Hat Society, and several other organizations.
Ethyl leaves six children, LaVerne Christmann, Donna Miner, Robert Minks (Jean
Flowers), Terry Minks (Amy), Galen ‘Rocky’ (Cherry Tye) and Dennis ‘Skipper’ (Michelle
Buckley); four siblings, Earl and Goldie Stewart, Mary Lou Serrano, Viola Bailey and Bill
and Willene Stewart; sixteen grandchildren, twenty four great grandchildren and fifteen
great-great grandchildren; many other family members and friends.
Ethyl was preceded in death by her parents, Samuel and Maggie Stewart; her husband,
Bill McNeil; three children, Johny Earl Dodson, Tony Tye and Sammy Buckley; and five
siblings, Frances Harryman, Norma Kohler, John Henry Stewart, Eula Hines and Betty
Ulshafer, twin sisters.
The family will receive visitors at Consalus Funeral Home on Monday, August 21, 2017
at 1:00 p.m., followed by a funeral service at 2:00 p.m. Interment is scheduled to follow
at Maplewood Cemetery in Brownington.
